Trails Film in Taiwan x TMI Trail x Asia Trails Conference

We’re happy to share with you that, with 324 people in our audience participating and overall positive reviews, we just had the second screening day of the "World Trails Film Festival in Taiwan" last Sunday (Oct. 2nd), and it was AMAZING!

Pivoted as one of the warm-up events for the 4th Asian Trails Conference, the film festival was organized and curated with films with/of/on the trails, both local and worldwide together, to be as a platform and also a milestone of manifestation of Taiwan's efforts for trail movements for the last few decades.

Many of the films we’ve selected serve as a valuable demonstration of the trail experience of Taiwan and many other parts of Asia, including Hong Kong, Japan, and New Zealand. There are two specific programs we thought to be worthy of sharing with you today, which are "Taiwan Long Distance Trail Series" and "Honorary Trail Master Series".

In the "Taiwan Long Distance Trails Series", the beauty and uniqueness of Taiwan's long distance trails were presented; including 樟之細路 the Raknus Selu, 山海圳 Sea to Mountain National greenway (MSTW), 淡蘭百年山徑 Tamsui-Kavalan Historical and Cultural Trails, and 台北大縱走 Taipei Grand Trail; in the meantime, the "Honorary Trail Master Series" captured the essence of trail-building experiences and life stories of the "honorary trail masters", the seasoned local trail builders in Taiwan, with their mastery of trail eco-crafting skills over the history and traditional knowledges.

It has been a hundred years since the Appalachian Trail first being initiated; we in Taiwan have also been promoting eco-crafted trails and advocating for more long-distance trails establishment in Taiwan since 2006. We are looking forward to sharing with you during the Asia Trails Conference this year from the 1st to 5th of December in Taipei, Taiwan!

Registration for international guests will be open until October 10th. We’d like to welcome our trail friends from around the world to register and participate online or in person. As the saying we’ve set for this event: Together, we go further; welcome, for the Asia Trails Conference in Taiwan!
